Hello Nickeechickee, Our Grandson is an average nine year old kid. This Orpington is well above average weighing approximately 14 to 15 pounds. The 5th picture down is the mother of the cockerel and the last picture is a sibling pullet. The cockerel he is holding and the pullet are both nine months old.

Wowsers, I think my Pekin duck is like 8 or 9 pounds? That is one big chicken!

Oh I can't wait for my little lavender to get here!

Ok.. I hatched three chicks fathered by my splash English orpington rooster. I was pretty sure the mother was my American SQ black orpington hen.

I got 2 cockerels, 1 pullet. One of the cockerels has a TON of leakage. Is this too much leakage to be mothered by a true black hen? Maybe my rooster has the gold gene and the silver gene? Maybe the mom actually was a black sex link? Help!

Many true blacks carry the red gene. to eliminate red, you need to use blacks that came from BBS breedings to get good blues, free from red.

Ok thanks everyone :) I love the pullet though. No leakage. Definitely keeping her. The cockerels I think I'll give away to a non-eating home. They're the worlds nicest chickens!
