Bella and her baby had me nearly in tears today! Bella was having a dust bath and he wanted to join in but couldn't fit so he started pecking Bella and pulling her comb and she was screaming and got up and chased him and then they settled down again and she was having a dust bath and he went and climbed on top of her and started trying to mate her but he didn't know to hold her head so she turned around and started dragging him off by his head! It was hilarious :')

Some chickens just need to learn the hard way!

Sad/happy story. Went to the hens last night and Bella's mother came up the field with her two big chicks but the little girl was missing. I looked in all the sheds for her, but there was no sign of her. Something just clicked and I thought "rat trap". I went and lifted one of the boards it was under and I could see her little foot. I then saw she was breathing so I like ripped them all off and she was being attacked by loads of bugs and ants. I got her out of the trap and and wiped the ants off and they started biting me!! She was a bit wobbly and wasn't eating, so I cleaned the broody shed out and put her and her mother in and locked the two big chicks out. It was an instant kill rat trap and it was on her neck so I don't know how it didn't snap her neck. Went up today and she was scoffing meal worms and is now back out with the rest of the flock!! She is so so lucky to have survived that!

Bella's boy has been so naughty over the past couple of days! Yesterday, George was trying to mate one of the top hens and he took it as an opportunity to attack her, so off her went going for her and then she fell over a shovel and George fell off her and she turned around and all she saw was Bella's boy so she thought it was him and flapped at him and started chasing him around the feed pen! Thought he has learnt his lesson, but today Bella attacked my light Sussex Lacey and he decided to carry on going after her when Bella stopped and Lacey turned around and give him a beating, he then went for a dust bath with Bella and started pecking her and she got angry and stood up and give him a beating, and then it all settled down and he decided to mate Bella! (I tried to get a pic but it was a bit blury) once he stopped Bella got up and started on him and he started levelling her up! He backed down after a bit! Then the same top hen from yesterday came towards him and Bella and she like give Bella the evils and then brushed past her and Bella's boy chased her and jamp on her and she screamed, turned around chased him round and round Bella and poor Bella ended up getting a beating for it too! She wants to get rid of him now, he's getting her in so much trouble! You can see in the last pic when the hen turns and goes for Bella too!

Bella's boy jamp on her again and mated her and I missed it again! She's getting sick of him though! Was up the field without him today!

This was from yesterday:
Bella's boy got into another fight today! This time with Bella's enemy and his biological mother! She's moulting (thats why she doesn't look too healthy) so I'm glad she won because I don't want her getting stressed during it. They were fighting a minute but most of it was a stare off, he backed down and she chased him off in the end. George was trying to get involved but I stopped him as I like to be there when they fight incase anyone gets hurt.
