Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

HOW DO YOU KEEP HAWKS AWAY? 2 days ago I came home to find a fresh still warm Buff pullet dead right at the doorway to their covered pen. Seems like she was on her way down the open run hill and just didn't make it. Today when we went out to do chores we found another Buff pullet up the hill dead. These are our first & second preditor losses ever. The other day I had an emotional break down, so not expecting that. Today just P'd me off. So other than not letting 9 big orps out of the 12x14 roofed pen what can I do?

My advice would be getting a game rooster to free range wwiththem, a game roo will defend your ladies and possibly can even take down a hawk or simply chase him away.

Thanks! Just realized that they are getting on the older side now! Hopefully they still have another few years left in them!

Welcome, and is she still laying like she did when she had one year?

She's always been a really bad layer. Mainly because she's too busy hatching out! Her sister Daisy, still lays every other day :)
