Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Frogtown those are some really nice large chcks. Looks like two late blooming cockerels from the saddle feathers. Most do look like pullets though

my local farm and ranch has a few buffs left that must be 6 or 7 weeks by now. thinking about picking up a few this week. any sure fire way to make sure i get pullets?

look closely at their combs, the males should be very easy to spot..much larger and pinkish/reddish then the pullets..
of course you can get a late bloomer cockerel to, but for the most part this method works at the age you are talking about for picking females

I'm surprised they don't have them separated out. At any rate, I don't know of any "sure fire" way of telling at that age. Here is how you can increase the likelihood. Buy birds that have the smallest wattles and combs, have creamier comb color (not bright pink), and have feathered out more, especially in the tail. Good luck....and if you do get a cockeral, he might just be the best roo you've ever had, if you can keep him

its not the uk/usa person your thinking of, this particular person has an import lic, from what i know.. i believe she used to be on the older byc site some time ago, not sure if she is anymore..

I guess it is just personal preference in the type you like. I, by far, prefer the English type to the American type. For me, there is just absolutely no comparison between them. I love all that gorgeous fluff. Then again, I don't show my birds, I raise them for pets and pure beauty. I sure would love to get some of the other English colors over here.

Here are a few pictures of my Blue/Black orps and a few pictures of babies I just hatched a couple of weeks ago.
