Prolly a Fox got her. I think their the sneakiest of predators. And the boldest. Earlier this year, some of the sis's of Feran got snatched right before sunset. And it was after we had snow. I could see it's foot prints. Must be a smart critter. He always took the biggest and best girls. He must have gotten 3 of mine before he decided there was too much risk associated to those heists.
Yep thats what we think, the sly fox. boy they sure know what they are doing...they were right around where I could see them and I heard nothing at all , the other hens were not alarmed in the least.. I get so nervous anymore when I let them out. If Im here all day I will let them out for the day but If Im woprking they have to wait till I get home...
When you pull up into our driveway there is a hunting tree stand that one of our freinds built for himself in a lower feild ..and its pretty fancy , he has an aluminum ladder and looks comfy up there hee hee.. That hunting is in the DNA ..cant bleach out a million years of evolution...I miss living in Colorado we had a constant supply of buffalo and elk meat and I LOVED it..We dont hunt but all of our freinds do, Im usually the early morning chef while they are all gearing up and getting ready..They LOVE the fresh lorp eggs.. we do everything from home version of egg macmuffins to over medium ect....then off they go and Im back to sleep.... Had a really good wild turkey one year..Havnt had one in years..Its just me but I think they taste better , maybe because I grew up in family of hunters.. the white grocery store ones are kind of bland. wont be long and I'll will have to start rounding up every lorp egg for the hunters..I usually hand them out to people at work..
