any chance someone can post photos of a black orp around 4 weeks, or describe if it has other color feathers and where??
my problem is i accidentally (cringes) put black australorp chicks in with my orps, and i had ONE black orp chick i NEED for my breeding project, and now i dont know which one it is!! i suck! so do month old black orps have any distinguishing features that would separate them from a black australorp? the black australorps that age have white wing tips but are pitch black otherwise.
Cheryl, that stinks when you end up with mostly boys. That happened to me one time when I had a temp spike. I think I lost msot of the girls from the incubation troubles. It is still a bit early to tell, so there may be hope. btw..your order from me was for 3 of each black and white. Sorry to hear the hatch didn't go very well for you.
Megs - the aussies tend to have harder feathering than orps. If they're young, you should see differences as they get older.
First of all I have gone through this whole thread more than once and I think all the Orps are Just Beautiful. I ordered 24 bantam blue orps from Henthymes and have Just received 12 of the eggs(she is sending me 12 more in a few weeks). I so can't wait to post pics of here of my little banty blues. Just because I'm so jealous of all the pics on here I thought I would post a pic of my eggs I got yesterday
They are now in the incubator so I will have better pics to post in about 18-21 days
Here they are! Nothing like counting your chickens before they hatch lol
