Well I can officially post my orpington picture now..a rea black buff orp added to our flock..you guys are the greatest for letting me show a few australian orpington pics....
Well here she is. She came from Oklahoma 3 years old. APA judge Pator Romig picked her up for me and I picked her up at Faulkners exhibition poultry farm..southern hospitality in small town Pa. They have some breeds that are very rare and show all over east coast.
Sadly the birds owner developed cancer and his wife couldnt manage the flock, they fell into a little disrepair but not too bad.
I have dusted her as a precaution, she has everything else pullorum testing and was in quarentine for almost 2 weeks.
The powder you see is from me , with all those feathers cant be to cautious . shes actually quite shiney when not all dusty.
I know Charlie and folks at wilds of Pa might like to see her. When I see Pastor Romig again, I will ask him the name of the former owner, he was supposed to be one of the best breeders in the country , you might know who it is, all I know is he lives in Oklahoma and had a massive show breeding flock, and needed to disperse them due to illness.
Im going to use her if all goes well to improve my australorps for show and just for vitality, they are getting a little too imbred now and needed some outcrosses. since finding good australorps is as rare as hens teeth. She could definatly improve things...I hope. She sure will have a good life here, and I will show her next year, I cant get my pullorum tester to come back for her, she wont travel that far for one bird , plus she needs a little R and R for this year and the birds tag is expired in first week of july. so shooting for showing next year...She sure will live like a queen bee around here.
All dusted up, shes like a big feathered balloon and I love the giant feet.
She dwarfs my pullet
She certianlly looks different than my dainty little Australorps.
