Kathyinmo, super nice flock coming along!
All these birds look great. Buff Beauty your babies are very nice. Don't think I can give enough praise to Julie's. She has it going on.
I am still learning. And today I revisited a great poultry man Jack here in Indy on phone. I talked to him several times already at the two shows I went too. Didn't really know how legendary he was till today. Via email from Doug. He was Doug's mentor. He// of a poutry guy in this area. As always I am 4 months behind in knowin what I want to know. And this guy is one man to know. He was the man 30 years ago. One of them "stringmen" who were paid to bring in 500 birds at these State fair shows to fill up buildings. According to Jack, "THE MAN", alot of folks do not show at the fairs cause of the timing, the heat etc. And IF your local fair building isn't filled up they may not have another poultry show for the next fair season. The eyes of the fair people, they want filled buildings with livestock. So, guys like Jack are extremely important to us bird fans having a great time at our fairs. Now the best news. Incase you folks don't know me well, I am all about maintaining healthy vigorous Orps. Which means new blood. How ever I can get it or can make it. Jack is from the precomputer days. And knows ALL those great breeders who still have Orps, BUT no computer. No email addy's, no websites. You have to know a Jack to get em. And he is turning me onto one of them diamonds in the ruff, OLD SCHOOL BLACK ORP breeders for the last 25 years. Jack said this guy owes him a favor, and Jack will get me some of his Black Orp blood. Either eggs or bird or two. I hadn't been this excited since I got Bamma's boy DOC and sis. And that was at Columbus OHIO show too. See this is all it takes to make me happy. Another line of Black Orpington is all and I will be content. And I am happy!
