Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Finally I have pictures of your babies Julie!!! They are so sweet. I had to put them all in a small tractor for pics so it is a bit crowded. I am not taking ANY chances that they will decide the grass is greener on the other side and try to free range. Nooooo can't do that with the predators out looking for them.

Lightning struck two days ago and started a brush fire and burned up over 5000 acres behind me. So I am making a guess that the fox and coyote will move even closer for cover.

I am not the best picture taker and their colors are more vibrant than it shows. The last pic is of my girl who has been injured but she is doing much better. Up and hobbling and she was so glad to see her brothers and sisters!

They look wonderful !! I'll take that splash pullet please !!

Good luck with your predator problem. I know the fox and coyote have to eat, I just prefer not to provide them with a buffet !!!

Lol, I asked her but she said...no! Wants to stay here and take her chances

I actually have two splashes and they are my DH's favorite.

I agree with you on the food plan for predators. Eat the mice darn it and leave my birds alone.

The Splash pullets look really good. I love the blue cockerel in the first photo. I would use that black cockerel over the splash for sure. Well listen at me planning your breeding pens. LOL be sure and keep me updated as they grow,

I like him too, give me the boy in pic #2. I also really like the Blue pullet behind the splash down around pic #7. You have some great looking girls and boys!

Thank you!

Julie, you can plan all you want for me--I appreciate your wisdom.

Bill, you have great taste and a good eye

I thought it was difficult waiting for them to grow up, but now waiting until I can breed them and see their babies is harder!!

And I want to thank all of you for helping cheer me up due to the losses I took over vacation. I am glad to be back home-both in the US and BYC with my friends again!

I love hearing things like this, helps me learn - I can go back and stare at the pictures and compare to the flock here.

Germaine They look wonderful - your pictures seem to show their size/bulk well (I always think mine looks smaller in pictures than they are). If your splashes should suddenly wander south down the rockies, you know where to look - they will probably bring the bird in the last picture with them, a traveling trio (*snicker*).

Ok Orp people, I posted this int eh lav thread, but I figure more eyes the better. I have a cockerel who is about 3 months old. He's split to lav - but that's almost irrelevant. I want to know what you guys think of his build. He is in the first series of pics from the link. Then there is a series of pics of a dark blue - ignore, he's sold - and then a bunch of pics of some birds who are giving me fits on whether they are female or not.

All Opinions are desired!!!!

He is the Black Orp? Honest opinion? He doesn't look Orpy enough to me. Maybe it is just the way the picture turned out but he looks alot like the three I had (2 Lav's and 1 split to Lav)

I didn't keep them. I thought mine looked too much like an Australop and I decided the Lav color wasn't the color for me. At least not the ones I had anyway.

Please don't be offended or discouraged. That is what projects are all about and any breed really. Improving.
