Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

they'reHISchickens :

Would anyone care to sex these two splash orps? They are approx 16 weeks old and voices are changing from peeps to clucks. No crows from them at all and our rooster allows them near him. But we still don't think they look like hens!
One's comb has always been a nice red and the other has always been pale. Their legs are much thicker than our mature splash orps.
Opinions from the orp experts?

Looks like a cockerel and a pullet to me (the one in teh back being the cockerel).

Tonya, the regular jubilee has the darker red, mahogany color in the mille fleur pattern. The diamond jubilee is the lighter red, almost buff color within the mille pattern.

What colors do you get from the cross? About how many would you consider to be Lemon Blue?

If you use the chicken genetic calculator, you will see that there should only be unicolor blue from this crossing. I set dozens of eggs and only had the one lemon blue hatch which is the rooster in the picture. He could be a result of some throw back in the parents background.

From breeding this rooster back to buff & blue orpingtons I hatched only four additional lemon blue type birds (dozens of eggs again). I have eggs currently in the incubator from the rooster with Birchen hens ( a result from my silver and golden laced project birds) and I will know shortly if I get Lemon Blue from this crossing.

I will post pictures shortly of a lovely Wheaten Orpington hen another result of the golden and silver laced project birds (again the only one with this coloration). I put her with a White Orpington rooster. Check out the genetic calculator for the result. The little one is still in the incubator I will hopefully get pictures tonight. Any guesses on what color the chick is?

Jody more little beauties to want for? Can't wait to see adult pictures of the Jubilee.

I purchased my Orp eggs from BamaChicken last year and now they are almost 10 months old, laying like crazy, and still growing. I think they are just gorgeous birds but I can't seem to get a decent picture of them when they are in their breeding pen:
