Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Hinkjc - strange how just a color difference makes such a difference in the personality. I've heard that about some other breed too. Can't remember which one but some color just didn't have the charm!!

Bill - gorgeous blues too. Didn't see them until after my last post.

I can't wait till my roo James finishes his molt. I see Bills gorgeous roos and mine looks just poor right now. Tail short an sparse and looks like he has a porcupine growing out of the back of his neck. I had to look at old pics to remember that he actually is quite beautiful!! And of course our local fair is this week and my child wants to put him in !! Uuuurrrrggh! Foiled!!

Jim - all my pullets are about 15 weeks now and from what I hatched ended up with 2 cockerels and 6 pullets. The are all looking pretty good so far. Gonna have good size I think. Hopefully my buffs are ready for regional in PB. Guess we'll see you there. Oh and the buff ducks have two more companions. 2 young black call drakes.

I agree, you will see lots of improvements with selective breeding. The Buffs I call nasty, are my F-2 from the original parent stock of the line I created off of my Akers girls.
Check out the changes from the Original Buff cock and what I have to pick from now

Here is Capt Ron, very much a $6 Buff cock bird

now the blues. 13 weeks. The great 2 cockerel to 6 pullet buff ratio was blown out by the 3 to 1 on the blues.

Thanks y'all.
Bill wasn't sure bout the tail. He definitely has one!! More than anyone. Couldn't decide if he's trying to be a Jap or what! Ha.
On the pullet you like... She's a lowrider. Not sure if I just haven't noticed it before or if she has short legs or what. I haven't gone back out to investigate it further. We'll see.
