Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

I guess I didn't phrase that well...I'm asking why splash isn't recognized? if it only takes 5 people to get a color recognized as JimsFarmStand said about birchen. Everyone who breeds for black and Blue get splash was my point, so we all know there are more than 5 people. And its not like all the splash orps are a project bird, if you got a fabulous blue and cross it to a fabulous blue and you get a splash it has poential to be fabulous......I guess I'm asking why isn't the splash recognized? It is in other breeds that recognize blue.

what about the splash? I'm told splash is not a recognized color, however any one who has a blue cockerel and blue pullet can come out with splashes?

I think they are thought of like white boxers and shepherds...

I think they can not go any higher then BV/ Many splashes are shown. And since some traits like skin color can't be judged, they just do not get the credit. you can have an outstanding type, size, great tail amd that Splash still not out do a very hatchery quality Buff, Blue or Black. Not fair, but what can you do?

Why can't the Birchen Orp get in the SOP? All you need is 5 breeders who like the Birchen to stick with you for at least five years. It can be done.

the APA does not recognize any breed in the splash color... some thing about them being to variable in color... the ABA does tho so idk y the APA dont...

The admittance to the ABA was really easy and simple for awhile from my understanding so alot of sub par breeds/ varieties slipped in.

Had the pleasure of recieving a phone call from someone who is practically neighbors of my parents in Tennessee. New to our UOC. He had shown his nice Blue Orp cock at the Kentuckiana Show in DEC, getting a BV. I guess the question of the quality of my number one Black Orp cock had come up when he talked to Doug Akers. He had someone giving a negative review of Feran, earlier before. Lucky for Terry, he is a smart enough man to get a second opinion from Doug Akers. Just like in Doctors, you sometimes get a different opinion. He told Doug that this person he talked to had not liked Feran, only to have Doug say "I rather like this Black cock". This is why we show our birds. Doug went on to Win Best of Breed and Reserve at the Show. I told Terry, Doug is a strait shooter, and does not lie. Terry said that is why I questioned him about my Feran's quality. Terry is looking for a Black cock to use in his breeding program. Since you never know the motives behind some people's opinions. It is always good to show. Not once or twice but several times showing the same birds. I shown Feran once. He took a Reserve of Breed against Doug. Doug got the Best of Breed. I consider that Reserve, more close to heart a victory, seeing I did show against Doug's Buffs, then the Champion English I recieved in Oct here at the Central Indiana Poultry Show in Lebanon IN.
So we are going to show Feran this coming spring one more time. Just to enjoy the experience, and get this one Black Orp cock, who I like, and Doug rather likes to settle the score on what he is REALY about. It is a small poultry world. I am sure Doug would rather I bring a real challenger, then some second in line quality to show against. Thanks to Terry, I know who I can count on for an honest opinion. And Terry will get his Black cockerel!
My busy body Feran giving his traditional camera shy pose. lololol

Well they can judge them like the AKC does black pugs... the coat color is worth more points since there is no mask.

theres an idea, or come up with some standards for them
