Don't take this the wrong way but I have to ask... Is he an Orpington or an Australorp??

He just seems a bit long in the back and tail looks more australorpy to me. For showing I would like to see a darker eye and better comb. I would also like to see a more rounded chest for showing. JMO from what I have been learning this past year since I have started showing.

This is my Orpington rooster that I show (plz excuse his 1 whack tail feather)

No offense taken here. I'm just asking opinions. Your roo is very handsom. I got the eggs in a swap last year. I was told they where blue Orphingtons. Maybe he is blue

He certainly isn't as black as yours is. He has alot of irridescnt feathers and it makes him shiny and looks like he has light spots when pictured.

here is a cheery pic of the lad,

so aim for a flatter back, more fluff & less legs, and a chest that could break iceflows, and you will be there

my goodness...............those are just wonderful..great pic of them in amongst the flowers...we only have what we have to work with, so when are you going to send us some eggs?
take us a long time to catch up to that.

since mggog is going to send us some eggs to hatch, we'll be in bizness..those are wonderful birds.

I also think a lot of (american versions as Jeremy calls them) could be shown as australorps..

I wrote above that 2 years ago someone gave me what they called a """giant australorps"""" I knew she was a blk orp ..too big and sloppy in the feather for good australorp..but she was good all around so bred her back to very good australorp rooster and I am very happy with the pullet out of them..had 2 pullets looked just the same but the fox got one.

the first pic is the australorp pullet, she was australorp rooster crossed with (giant australorp) blk orp hen..I was worried that the chicks would be too sloppy in feathering but this pullet is very good.I am very pleased with her.these birds were just inspected and NPIP farm status that is thier silver ID tag on right leg.

Jodys orp pullet. Shes going to be a big girl and she is my favorite. she hangs around with me when Im sitting outside doing paperwork..she comes over and lays right next to me..
Thes babies are just 4 months so not full feathering.

this is the hen that was given to me called ""giant australorp".Is there such a thing as a giant australorp?.shes blk orp hen, way toooo big way too loose feathered to be australorp..she was almost as high as my knee..big girl..the pullet above was by her.
my critisism of the pullet ...her eye could be more round.. this hen came from superior poultry..but I dont think there is reaLLY such a thing as a giant australorp..after I gave her a bath she really fluffed up. looked like a ball with feet
