Here's a young black cockrel from Dick Hortsman's (sp) Stock. He looks gauky at this stage especially with his neck stretched out like that!

This little girl is from Bama stock. I bought Skye last year from a local person, hatched some of her stock. She won 1st in her division for best Blue Orp Pullet last fall. Here's her baby pullet dob 5.1.11. I wasn't liking her color at first but, she is growning on me now.

I had to bribe them all out to play with squash, cukes, tom's, and pasta!!! lol

I am enjoying the fun in these projects. I already feel very confident in making more Cuckoos. This is the same ole pullet I have taken pics of for a few weeks. BUT, i have some young Cuckoo boyz who are in every bit equals in quality who will be used heavily next season. For those like my friend in Minnesota who has Bob Coulter (for anyone who likes Bob's birds he has retired from rasing Buffs) Buffs and BUFF SPORTS. My buddy I was to trade some Cuckoos to clean out his brassiness, but sadly he told me today he has lost 50 or more of his birds to this horrible heat wave. He was mostly hit hardest in his Buff Sports. BUT, in the poultry world good things happen to good people. I am still going to give this fella a nice Cuckoo male to use to work on what he has left. With that male he has what he will need to ROCK the WHITE ORP WORLD in MINN.
For me I have 2 breeding males who I am using. My best is daddy to this pullet and the other little Cuckoos I will have for this summer season. Now my number 2 Cuckoo male is entertaining 2 Buff girls. One is actually from a Buff hen who is 1/2 from Don C's line and the other half is from my ole Doug girls line. This hen was in with PoPs the Deor Buff Cochin.
They both produced this 1/2 Buff Cochin and 1/2 Buff Orp hen who I am using to make Buff Cuckoos. From what one of my two color poultry wizzards, I am to take their offspring to each other to achieve those results. And I ALWAYS like to make every project from what I have here.

This is a pullet from my SS/BO hen and a Culled Blue Orp cockerel. I plan to take her to a Cuckoo someday and who knows what will come out?
I do better letting these projects come to me and this is the way I do it best. The hunt and peck methid is how I got my Salmon Breasted Silver Duckwing and she is very cool!

Finally here is ONE PIC of my oldest of the Cuckoos offspring.
She is a REAL KEEPER! The cage mates will be sold as layers. We must be very picky!!
