Funny I was just thinking of moving Frenchy in for the winter. She's a little bant. friz. but good garden o' peas she stinks when she poops.

BOSS looks right at home. I bring animals in all the time. Had a little Nigi goat in the house this week, following me around, crying if I left the room, curling up sleeping at my feet while I work at my desk.

He is a big baby. One of the few who doesn't mind being handled. He sorta likes it. He is hunkered down in this pic cause I have him in our brezeway and going from dark to lite takes a min for him to feeel his frisky self.
Here are a few of the outside Blacks from my best pen. Feran is the man in this pen.
There is my one Bamma Splash. She is in there too.
I loaded a couple more pics on our United Orp Club's site. But these will give ya an idea.

This is the inside of one of my main runs. Though it is frozen now but no snow or not much snow. The birds won't go out into the yard even though there is hardly any snow and I leave the door open.

boy those weasles mean bisness...you can usually tell when they are around in summer because the chipmunks all dissappear...we havnt had any around since oatis has been out in his pen we let the dogs out after the chickens are cooped...it seems to be working so far...really good fencing takes abite out of their crimes..we lined the outside of the chicken coop with doubled chicken wire to prevent any digging..we doubled it because one night a racoon chewed straight through the pen wire luckily the inside door was closed and latched up out of reach..boy you try to think of everything...we has a fisher grab one of our hens..it was a male..big animal..looks like an overgrown weasle..size of a good sized dog... i had no idea what that animal was had to look it up in wildlife book..first o about the about the homing pidgions..i have a freind that shows pidgions in elmira ny..ne we had ever seen in tis area. interesting

hee hee, the blk orps were funny about the trace of snow...the pullet got over it quickly, went right out and started digging around in it...the rooster just stared down at it..he tip toed around kile it might bite him for quite a while. that was pretty funny to watch he had his neck really arched and on guard looking at the ground , just couldnt figure it out...

the australorp hens on the other hand, open the door and they are gone..they all have a covered area like yours but given a chance and a shovled path.......off they go to parts unknown. except the rooster hes a delacate little flower...he prefers jis heated hut...

Now that's a great idea. If hay wasn't so scarce right now and selling at a premium and if I didn't have 16 rescue horses I'm tyring to feed I'd build some temp shelters all over my farm out of hay bales. Fortunately so far this winter we haven't had winter and have had zero freezing days. But that's not the norm so next winter you've given me some ideas.
