I dont think Vickie would miss that pullet bottom picture if I I accidently took her home....shes just so pretty ,well all of them are...these are my cousins dream birds..he wants good buffs so bad..he calls me all of the time..I told him just be patient, we are working on getting you some...hes SO excited.. and Vickie, you are a master at conditioning, not too often you see shine like that in buffs..must be those sunflower seeds..

Yup, they're getting lots of BOSS, and plenty of forage.I overseed grasses and clovers, plus mustard and kale for them over the winter too.Right now they are also stuffing themselves with fallen pears.A yellow jacket or wasp doesn't stand a chance either.I love watching them go after a butterfly too. Even the little ones get into the act. I don't think Monarchs taste good though, as they leave those alone. These girls are also entering that wonderful bloom time for pullets...just a month or so before they start laying.

This is truly what the Orpington breed should look like. They are also pure linage of Buff Orpington. No other colors or breeds added. I am very pleased with their hatchmates as well. Guess we need to start looking for eggs in the grow out pens soon.

my cousin will be pm you jim.. hes excited..i told him to wait till we found some decent birds...winters get ugly here..but we start first week of feb hatching..he has good incubator.. , he will want to arrange something with you little later on..it will be so nice for him..he has kept sussex for a long time but has always wanted buffs..and he wont have to play head games just to get some nice chickens..

ive got my heart so set on a couple vickie english cross ...and im not bad on my conditioning , but vickies the master at it....

Hi, everyone! I have a Black Orpington Rooster that I raised from a chick. He is about 17 weeks old and has started showing red. I'm not a breeder, so I'm not "worried" about it, but I wonder: "why the red?" Maybe some of you genetics experts can enlighten me! Here are a few pictures of him:

It should be noted that we have a very large livestock guardian dog that greatly dislikes strangers near her livestock! Just saying.....

I have heard rumors about Vickie's conditioning ability. Proof is in the pudding, as they say. Let her come to Lucasville, Ohio this fall and show us all off. Put up or shut up they say!

It would not offend me to loose to a better bird. Especially one my flock produced!

Where did he come from? Looks like someone sneaked in the coop. I have seen red leakage but yours is obviously crossed with something else.

VICTORIA will come when the birds are ready, and suit ME.I carry nothing that doesn't start with a .4...except my 12 gauge with 00 buck loads.. Wait til you meet my husband...I'm the pussycat.

The likely hood of being mixed is pretty good. Like I said, I'm not a breeder, and neither was the guy I bought him from. I think the red is pretty and he is the nicest rooster ever! He takes care of his hens, finds them food, protects them, but is super gentle with people. He's our first rooster, so we are having a good experience. Thanks for the input!
