Thanks for the input, I am planning on keeping her, because overall she is so pretty!! I just love those blue feathers!! I was just curious how you get that color feather on a bird that was crossed from black and splash... is it just leakage from way back when the different color varities were developed, more recently? Again... just curious and learning myself, thanks!!

I have raised blue orp bantams for several years. I had that problem when I started and had it when I quit. My worst was black over blue. You will raise some nice ones and you will have some like this. I just sold the bad ones at the fles market.

You never mentioned you did the flea markets. I do but I do not sell any birds there since they all have come back to haunt me. I would see eggs on some auction sites being sold out the the culls I use to send to different auctions. Then I would see my culls being sold on a local site and even say they were of show quality. Now I see none of them being sold because they no longer are sent there. I have to cull them the old fashion way. I only sold one quality bird last year but gave many quality ones away in hopes of helping some newbies. I also loaned out some of my birds to help the beginners get a good start.

Im having a blast looking through albums and card readers to find the poultry show in britian readers..when you go to one of these shows there are not 10 or 15 orpingtons entered..there are row after row..I took mostly pics of australorps but did take some buffs blues and whites and a few others , as soon as I find it.

In East TN we had a guy that would come and buy your flea market stuff. You had to have 100, he liked more. He gave 2 or 3 dollars a head. When I had old english and rosecombs numbers was never a problem. I dought if he knew what most of them was.

well look at you..the whole country is amazing isnt it? rich in history, castles , poultry are fantastic..what a small world..my cousin yevettes hubby was taking us on tour for fear we would forget and drive on wrong side of the road..would have loved to see scotland as well, but we had such a full plate ran out of time quick..if you get to go again, try to time it to catch one of those big poultry shows..you just get lost in it and the people for hours..

There is no problem selling culls here in Pa. There are poultry auctions probably 6 days a week and Sunday you can sell them at the flea market; No quota either 1 or 100 plus they have at least 8 exotic sales a year for the show birds if you wish to participate. I got good money for a trio two years ago for some Blue Orps and they were the smaller type. I no longer sell at those sales except equipment now if I have some extras.
