Your girl looks great to me. I know that Dan Honour is one fella I like to run pics of my Buffs by to gauge how well my color is coming along.

OOPs, I misspoke on that. I have had it, and everything Dan has written on buffs for a long time.I now think you are referring to the article he published in 2011? WONDERFUL color on those Buff Leghorns. I saw them in the flesh too, and they truly were golden to the roots. None of the birds from other countries could compare with the color or the type.

Bill and Vickie I Don't ever want to sell Dan Short. Over the years I have read every article ever published on breeding Buff Coloration forgot most of it. My Sacre Buff Cockerel would be to Dark to Compete in Serious Competition; but I will put him to use. I do not believe there is 1 Magic Formula for Breeding Quality Buff. I do believe different Breeds of Buff Chickens breed Somewhat Differently. I hope we all can afford the feed next year. For the record I like the Sacre Cockerels better than the Pullets.

This one was written 2011 like you said.
Last year, or maybe the year before Dan seen a bird which I had that looked like this and he said for me to take him to a Buff, then repeat with future offspring for 3 generations and I would have the perfect Buff color. That is one of the reasons, I made these. But as this had been said before, "one must build the barn before painting it". So, this fella will get two of my lower quality Buff girls this coming season. Then follow Dan's plan.



I like his brother too. Far as type goes. And will test breed them both with a nice size Buff girl and play around with these two boys for a small hatch or two

Bill, would you send me that link? I believe the only thing I have questioned about Dan's vision of what buff color can and should be is his viewpoint on what I will call color that is a bit "hot". I understand what he is saying but still want to work within a perimeter of bright, golden buff. No orange.

I've lots of experience with buff Cochins and Orpingtons, some directly from Marcus Davidson. A little bit of experience with the buff Leghorns. They are all different and one of those differences seems to be the expression of golden buff color on different feather texture, quality and substance. That Dan can breed bright golden buff on those Leghorns is a real accomplishment. And a good looking one too.
