Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

I haven't stopped, just slowed down. I still have the std buffs and black bantams, ans I also have a few choc orp bantams to play with. Those little blacks will start laying around 4and 1/2 months and be ready to set at 6 months. Do you raise Southdowns?
Don, these birds I got were from a well known Orp breeder, a lady from OK whose name escaped me now, and she got them from Superior Farms who the owner said he got them from you years ago. Superior Farms now is out of business, no longer breeding them.

Here are the birds I used to have but still have the Black Orp Banty girl, Sarah. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/101181/eye-candy-for-orp-bantam-lovers#post_1142352

I would say Meg Bennett, if you need a boy, please let me know. I would be glad to give you one. All it cost is box and mail ride ticket. Yes I gave Lew 3 trios of black bantams and 2 splash boys to do the blues. He was trying to be able to supply people with good birds and I needed to help.

Here are my Orp Girls. I am sure they will be better after the molt if I even keep them that long. They are older hens I think 3 or 4 years old. Pretty roughed up. But I could imagine them being good once they molt.
Black girl need to molt

The splash girl is very broody! Not going to give her anything to hatch this time of year.

There is NO sign of the missing birds anywhere, or feathers. I'm assuming that someone herded the youngsters into their run, and grabbed them. Their little cochin buddy was terrified, but apparently they weren't interested in her.The birds taken were an English Buff Orp K who Marc shipped me on 8/21, and a HINKJC P. that I hatched and raised. Both were between 12-14 weeks old. Mrs.Pumphry, Monty, and the rest of the big girls are safe...and under lock and key, unless I'm out with them. I'm also putting netting over all the bushes that the birds like to lounge under. Right now the leaves are very thick, but they will fall shortly. I do not believe it was a hawk strike, but better safe than sorry. I had planned to do this anyway pretty soon, but the netting goes up today. It's NOT knowing what happened to the birds that's worrying me.
Thank you, everybody, for your concern.

Sorry to hear this ......if a predator did it there is usually s few feathers, although a fox is pretty tidy and they take them away.

A fox took a pair in 45 minutes, and dragged them through a 2x 4 woven mesh 6' tall fence with no feathers? Then dug under an 8' fence with wire 2' into the ground? Don't think so. These birds were cornered in their "safe" run, and scooped up. They didn't want the little cochin buddy. Interesting reaction to my plumber today, who was putting in frost free hydrants at the runs. NOBODY would come out. Not for goodies, not for nothing. Just predator alarm noises. Told me loud and clear what went on.

More than likely it is the two legged fox, but foxes climbed over two six foot fences (2x4 non climbable livestock fencing) here and they were taking two runner ducks a night without leaving so much as a single feather. I had 40 birds in this enclosure, so I didn't notice until the flock was thinned by quite a few. foxes climb very well.

First egg Hatching right now! Momma is a lemon cuckoo, but they kept getting in with the blue splash or lavender orp roos. Thats why she got rid of her breeding stock. This chich isn't dry yet, but the leggs are dark grey with a purpley hue ans the feathers dark grey....????? It will be the only one like it. It is a miracle egg. We evacuated due to a fire, and I unpugged the incubator. It had been in for 24 hours before I turned it off. Then 30 hours later I figured it was too late so I put it in the fridge, 2 days later I read that eggs can survive a few days without incubation.... so I figured what the heck. I put it back in and viola we have a chick.

I covered my entire pen with wire, and they get completely locked up at night. So far we have had no incidents
