Thank you,I covered my entire pen with wire, and they get completely locked up at night. So far we have had no incidentsSorry for your loss.![]()
I now have a glimmer of how David Pownall must have felt when someone got 200 of his birds. Years of breeding down the drain, and I'm no where near that with these birds, but it is gut wrenching.Thank you,
This was in broad daylight in a 45 minute time span. My perimeter fence is 8' tall vertical, non climbable boards with wire buried 2' deep. Nothing disturbed. I fox hunted for 45 years, and I'm very well aware of how well foxes climb, greys especially.. This is on the outside of the other fences. No problems at night. I have heavy duty chain link buried 2' in the ground runs, also roofed with the same chain link and steel panels. I could see maybe a very skinny snake getting in, but nothing else. All runs now have padlocks and a camera. Just put monofilament over the whole orchard too. BIG hungry dog coming, and the 12 bore is loaded.
Ok this chick is silver with dark grey legs would that be lavender blue splash or is it too early to tell? It looks like a roo too (which makes me happy- he'll pass on the color)First egg Hatching right now! Momma is a lemon cuckoo, but they kept getting in with the blue splash or lavender orp roos. Thats why she got rid of her breeding stock. This chich isn't dry yet, but the leggs are dark grey with a purpley hue ans the feathers dark grey....????? It will be the only one like it. It is a miracle egg. We evacuated due to a fire, and I unpugged the incubator. It had been in for 24 hours before I turned it off. Then 30 hours later I figured it was too late so I put it in the fridge, 2 days later I read that eggs can survive a few days without incubation.... so I figured what the heck. I put it back in and viola we have a chick.
Here you go the good old days. This postcard is still available possibly on this site Ruby Lane. White Orpington hen worth $10,000. I can not post the picture from the site.
