A chick that size, you can tell by looking at the saddle feathers. If they are pointed, it's a male. Round like the end of you finger, female.

Feathers in front of tail. You know on a grown male, the feathers that goes down on each side of tail, they are pointed, female shorter feathers and the end of feather will be round like the end of finger. Look straight down on the back, better, if you take a picture, up close and I can tell.

He said he didn't know if was a she or he. I was trying to tell him about saddle feathers. It's hard sometimes to tell on you orps till they get there feathers. Find out anything on your missing chickens?

If the pic would be straight down it would be better, but to me you might call her Lady J

Thank you all. Especially Harry and Don. You all have been very helpful. Those at UOC have given us an opportunity to learn how to beter our birds. If I had not been directed to go to Mr. Wahls farm, I would have missed out on some good white Orps. He said he has a very short list of breeders who are getting his whites. Libby is excited to know he will help us out.
