Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

You are right Lildinkem, it just seems that sparing them from a frightening demise is the humane thing to do. But, I guess even under the circumstance that they are in, it still wouldn't be right. I have rescued animals all my life, will always do so, but would never if I didn't have permission. It's hard though not to "wish them" to a better place with food, water, and protection though.

When money factors in on someone's idea of what is "a frightening demise", makes me question what those folks consider "a frightening demise". Some humane folks think free ranging birds is a "a frightening demise". Alot of people make their living with livestock. These birds are being raised to be eaten. And that is up to the REAL owner to decide what they think is best for their situation. David Pownall lost almost all of his top Exhibition Buffs to folks who just wanted to make a buck and resell them for eating. I am sure he would not someone here saying for those who stole his birds to say it is okay.
IF Johnn approached the owner and asked if he could collect some eggs for him to hatch I would think the owner would tell him to go for it. IF Johnn intends to profit from these eggs changes the everything. I doubt the owner will go to the legal lengths to allow for their eggs to be sold outside the UK.

the ones John has do not look bad at all..but if those birds are not cared for in a reasonable manner , then they must have some form of a humane society there..last year somone bought a pony for their kids , winter came and they forgot all about pony and chickens and dog , they just didnt want to go outside.....humane society found that poor thing froze to the ground had to remove a frozen eye ball..so sad..they impounded and rehomed all of those animals..sad people bother to get these things..they might better get a motercycle or something like that.that owner got some hefty fines , wouldnt pay them so did some time in a nice chilly jail cell.

i know that because im on emergency transit for very sick horses to cornell vet center..people call, i hook up the trailer , and take the animals there if people dont have the equipment and local vets cant handel it.. i wont forget that pony as long as i live..miserable half starved thing...covered in lice, just beyond beleif.., local vets stabalized it..and i took it up there..but hapy to report that pony is now in a much better home.somone in ithaca took the chickens..never found out what happened to the dog.....

I don't/want to profit off the eggs, i take them and it pays for their food which their real owner can't be bothered to buy or feed them.

Then you call the humane society and let them take care of it. I trained Schutzhund with the head trainer for the Marion County Sheriffs SWAT Team K-9. The way these officers train their dogs would to many be considered inhumane. And IF you go and try to steal their K-9 dogs you will get a stiff sentence in jail. These dogs are worth tens of thousands of dollars. These chickens are no different. Not worth thousands but to those here maybe hundreds of dollars. IT is not for Johnn to decide their fate. It is for the law to decide.

The only place i could think to ring is the RSPCA but its not worth the time, they are useless and will say there is no problem.

Here in Indianapolis I seen the local news report on Poultry that was removed from horrible living conditions. The same birds became available to anyone who wishes to adopt them for a very reasonable price. From the pics you shown I do not see any mismanaged birds. You need to take pics of the ones you say are being mismanaged and post them. Trust me, this thread and site is monitored by the Dept of Agriculture. For those who think it is okay to take another's property, the US Dept of Agriculture WILL BE WATCHING YOU!

well they do look ok because i feed them :/

Still not your birds for you to take. Ofcourse the RSPCA will not do anything since they look okay. IF these birds are in such bad shape WITHOUT your help they would have died. That is why there are laws. Without laws there would be anarchy.
If you want to lay claim to them talk to the owner, tell them how much you care and then work something out.

Johnn,

Can you give me the name of the school, and the name of the owner of those Buffs? How long have they been there? I need a real address of that place. I have lots of chums in the UK. I would get something done without involving you. You obviously have a camera. A picture is worth a thousand words, is evidence of what goes on. Please PM me if you are up for it.

Vickie
