My first hatch. These 2 are 2/12 on the morning of day 21. They couldn't wait! These 2 are Light Sussex hen X Silver Grey Dorking roo. Can't wait to see how they turn out!
My latest batch of chicks are 5 months old Sept. 30th. I had 28 and lost 8. Highest loss rate yet. Devastating. This batch has some very personable and friendly chickens.
Red is my 3.5 year old Black Australorp/Rhode Island Red mix rooster. He is an awesome rooster and big! Hawkeye is my "Easter Egger" rooster. He sits on the sawhorse and crows across the yard to my other chicken yard where Red is sitting on his sawhorse. Back and forth they go crowing at each other, "I'm the Man!" "NO! I'M THE MAN!".
This is Oreo, a Exchequer Leghorn.
This is Little Blue, a not very blue Blue Andalusian.
And a general picture of a few of the crew
I sure enjoy my chickens and their varied personalities.
Little Blue thinks I'm the rooster. Everytime I walk into the chicken yard, she runs to me and crouches. I pick her up and rub the back of her neck and she nods off in my hand. She is very small and isn't growing much.
The date stamp is wrong, 2013 not 2014!
