My cuties I picked up from Meyer yesterday. I love that you did the free meal maker! I got my chicks from Meyer a few weeks ago. I found out to late about buying a meal maker. Light Brahma Blue Cochin Gold Laced Polish Gold Laced Polish 2 Dark Cornish Free Meal Maker
I bought 17 replacement chicks yesterday at the local Rural King. First time I've bought from a store; I usually buy mine from Cackle Hatchery. Gosh they're so cute. I almost came home with a few baby ducks; they're even cuter than chicks, but I didn't. Wish one of my hens would have been broody to care for these new ones; sure is easier when the natural mama takes care of them. They're in the basement bathroom all konked out. Too cute. It will be hard to get rid of my current hens this fall who will be 2 in May. They're slowing down with the egg laying. Love everyone's pictures of their chickies. Wish we would have raised chicks when I was growing out. Such a good experience for kids.
Here are some of my barnyard mutts. The last 2 have the same mother (a Wyandotte) and I only have 1 Rooster. And the yellow one with black stripes hatched out of a brown egg with only 2 possible mothers...an Australorp, or a RIR. Go figure.
This is her grown up. I'd say dad was the RIR rooster I had.
I've been busy concentrating on my newest project. Breeding Belgian Cuckoo Malines, a rare breed that is slowly gaining in popularity. 2 new bloodlines have since been acquired. Here are my new chicks - the 2nd generation on my farm.
