My chicks are 9 weeks old now, and I let them out of their coop for a couple of hours yesterday to scavenge for bugs. I was hoping they'd find the ants, but they didn't venture too far from their "house" on the first day... although they found plenty of interesting things to munch out on there. Several cocoons of some sort.. lots of games of "keep away"... Right now it's only supervised outdoor time... not going to keep the coop door open all day until they get a little bigger..
bought these home a week ago from the local feed store. there were 5 white silkie babies left and I took them all. The lady was kind of begging me to take the two mallard ducks home that were left and of course I took them home too. The basket is only about 8 inches wide and they were so tiny they didn't even cover up half of the basket. We are going on week two not and they are still tiny little guys.
Here's my 14 week old roo I hatched. Prettiest roo I've ever had so far! My 3 1/2 week olds were not cooperating today! Instead, I will be posting my new chicks late this week/weekend! I'm picking up my hatchery order on the 25th! Yay! 4 of each breed of Dark Cornish, White Chantecler, Black Australorp, Columbian Wyandotte, White Plymouth Rock, Ameracauna, and Buff Orpington! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
