can you really keep ducks in dog cage thing and they wont tget cold in the winter?

ya as long as you insulate them and there are no holes there fine do you leave an outdoor dog in one???? basically the same difference in my opinion mine even act like dogs lol!

I'm currently working on an above ground (raised) duck pen. It's 4ft by 8ft. It includes a 3ft by 4ft covered house and a 30 gallon tub for a pool. Its still under construction, but here are a few photos of it at present...

Mine is a little tikes house to house their grain and then pvc pipe and fencing with zip strips to hold the wire to the pvc. I never put them in anymore. They free range at all times since I live in town and I have a chain link fence. So far 7 months and no issues, yeah!

Love seeing the different kinds of pens.

It's ugly since we made it entirely from recycled materials in a huge rush (the rains came early this year) but we're already working on making bigger and better.

On the left of the duck pen temporary fencing is the larger nesting shed, which allows passage between the night pen and the fenced backyard. On the right of the fencing is an old rabbit hutch we reconditioned into a combination brooder (on top) and additional nesting room. We also use the top of the hutch if we need to separate someone and for quarantine when we get new ducks. It's a bit hard to see, but there's a ramp in there they can use.

This is our water station - their waterer is up on cinder blocks, surrounded by five bins (extra large cat litter boxes) that the flock uses to swim, clean and drink from.

On the far side of their night pen is their pond, complete with border collie lifeguard and kitten pond inspector. The duck pen is right up against the rabbit pens, so both pens share lighting at night. We're installing the new roofing to replace the tarps later this month. This is an older pic just a few days after we installed the pond, we've done additional work since then - built a bio-filter for the pond, planted more bushes, etc.
