post PICS of your favorite chickens! ALL PETS WELCOME!

First of all Shenanigan II is adorable and the name cracks me up. AND, thanks for the post!

Squirt pullet
EE
8 weeks

I bought Squirt off of Craigslist because she was being sold by herself. It was odd and I felt bad for her. Their reason was that they had one too many chickens.

I got her and couldn't immediately blend her with my older gals, so she and I hung out together (inside and outside) for about 3 weeks straight. I finally got her a buddy, Mary. She is now acting like a chicken, but still flies to roost on my arm, shoulder, shoe, boot......! She runs across the yard to graze only while between my legs. I think she has a little separation anxiety! Either way, I love her. She acts like a spoiled brat, but I love her. ALSO, she can't take a peck, she just screams and runs to mom.

As you can see, she is the leisurely type.

Looks like you have a wonderful spot...and animals! Ms. Araucana looks a lot like my Squirt, but with a black face instead of white. They are something!

Here's my current favorite one. She's an EE pullet thats about 4 months old. Originally we named her "Buttercup" but that has recently changed to "Gooneybird."For the last two months we have had to house her alone or else she gets pecked and attacked by the eight other chickens we have. The time alone has really made her a very tame bird toward people versus she is terrified of other chickens and totally panics when confronted or pecked by them. We started calling her Gooney because she is kind of a wacko nerdy chicken and just always acts very well "gooney."

Gobbles the Speckled Sussex. I'm renaming her "Gobbles the Explorer" because she is so curious. She hopped right out the door of the run the other day when I was bringing in water. Thanks, everyone, for sharing your awesome pictures! This thread is great!

wow, the EEs are so pretty.

i like your horses ging3rhoffman, despite the fact that i i live in Alaska i grew up with horses. my mom's best friend (who we call babe, dunno why) had 7 horses. she still has the original 7, but now there are more than 14 running around. some of them went completely wild but they still hang around the village.

cant wait to see more pictures, people!

Ging3, Moose is the most beautiful shade of bay. I am partial to bays, but especially that deep mahogany shade.

Aspen on the left, will be 14 this June. She was a puppy mill rescue/buy out. She was 3 years old and a breeding grump, unsocialized and terrified of people. It took a LONG time to socialize her, but she did adjust and grew to love g getting treats from strangers.
Beowulf on the right, is my life. He is rotten, spoiled, and ill mannered, but I love him like my child. He was my first confirmation dog, and did really well in obedience and agility until we dropped out (too much going on). I knew him before he was even conceived, and was there on Christmas night when he was born. He was a gift from my former boss, 9 years ago.
22798_emma_with_priscilla_scarf.jpg

This is Emma. My dad and I were out walking Aspen and my old Terv one day, and this little girl followed us home. She is the best, sweetest, smartest little dog ever. Out of all my dogs, she is everyone's favorite. It's hard to believe I've had her for 10 years already.
22798_how_i_try_to_sleep.jpg

And this is the portion of bed the dogs allow me to have. I actually got a bigger bed to accomodate my dogs (plus I really wanted a log bed!).
22798_mica_on_my_pillow_2.jpg

Bad dog Mica. Killer of squirrels, destroyer of carpet, and devoted bed warmer. Gunshot wounds, broken humerus, and abandoned by her owners at the clinic where I work. Big, tough baby!

22798_isaac_cute.jpg

This is Isaac. He is a foxtrotter mix that belongs to my wonderful neighbor. She has 6 horses, but I always ride Isaac because he is just so cool. laid back, but with a touch of attitude.

22798_marilyn_cockapullet.jpg

Ok, so this is supposed to be about our favorite chickens, so this is Marilyn. Not sure if he is a roo or pullet, but he's gone from being my ugliest bird, to one of my favorites. He is out of my first ever hatch, which was a pretty neat experience. I am so hoping he will be a he and be guardian of my flock.

22798_scotch_bo_roo_8_mo_4-09.jpg

And my current roo, Scotch. He's an awesome flock guardian, always calling his girls when I give out good treats. He is gentle and sweet, and just beautiful. I may be keeping one of his sons if Marilyn turns out to be a hen.

Sons of Scotch. My first breeding project, EEXBO. Very pretty birds.

Oh yay, this should be fun. What a great post!

Name: This is Marilyn.
We hope it's a girl, otherwise it will have a complex because we have been calling it Marilyn for the last month or so...

Breed: Marilyn is a d'Uccle which I believe is Mille Fleur

Age: 6-7 weeks maybe

What a sweetheart... When we got the first batch of chickens I went to TSC and picked out 6, not knowing what i was getting other then bantams. Then one day we noticed it had feathers on it's feet. But that's besides the point. I did some research and figured out what breed it was...

Ever since we got it, it has been sweet, kind and fun. I'll sit in the recliner and watch TV and it would sleep on my chest, or if I was on the computer it would sit on my shoulder. Well I could go on and on but the thing is, it's a sweety....

and here's another picture of Marilyn...

Then we got a new batch and my husband and i have grown very fond of our gray Japanese Bantam which we have named Happy Feet. Happy Feet is just over a week old if that... we got it last weekend and at that point it was just a could of days old... tiny little thing... goes right to sleep in your hands or lap...

This little pullet was probably my favorite; she was the only one I hatched myself. She's an OEG mix- her mother was Daphne and her father was Napoleon (both shown below.) She was slaughtered by a raccoon. Her name was Chante and I loved her very dearly.

Here is her mother, Daphne, as she is raising Chante: (Daphne is fawn silver duckwing OEG)

Her father is Napoleon, a Black Tail Red OEG-

Here is one of my favorite pictures- it shows three banty girls(starting left) Pandora, Daphne, and Pauline-

Another of my favorites is Edwina, the adorable Brahma banty-

Also is the Sicillian Buttercup, Corona-

And the black Sumatra, Lucy (my avatar is Lucy's face)-

Then there's Phoenix the golden sebrite-

Also a favorite is Isabell the BTB Japanese:

And, of course, Gladys, the buff Silkie-
