post PICS of your favorite chickens! ALL PETS WELCOME!

wow!

after seeing people posting pictures of their other pets, im going to make this thread and all pets welcome thread!

Kansaseq, what kinds of dogs are in those first two pictures of yours? they are so pretty!

Thank you! They are Belgian Tervuren, a European herding breed. They also come in black, curly, and short hair (groenendael, lakenois, and malinois). They need lots of early socialization and training, but are wonderful working dogs.

I love seeing the pictures and reading the stories of how everyone aquired their pets and the neat names. I send hugs out to those who rescue pets.

Here's our Sampson. He died April 25th 2009. It was 5 days after my birthday.

He was only 7 years old, and the vet said he had an ulcer in his stomach that ruptured. We miss him terribly. Even our other dogs aren't the same. He was the only one I trusted around my chickens. He loved to herd various birds in our backyard. It was funny to watch.

We had a private cremation, and he's finally come back home.

RIP Sam, We miss ya big guy.

My friends wanted me to call the breeder. They said if you don't call I will. I finally did, and spoke with her for two hours, which made me feel a lot better. We are going to take a ride out this summer to look at the pups from a particular litter she has coming up that she feels will be a good fit for us.
She also has a wall of pictures from other owners of her GSD from Sampson's particular parents. We will be putting one of his pictures on there. It's like a memorial. His parents don't breed anymore, but they were a very special group.

Here's some pics of our older grps of chickens out in the new home. They seem to be adjusting well, and loving it.

The smaller grp in their brooder area..

This is my favorite duck. I got him after my dog died last year. He was raised with puppies and thinks he is one in every way. He really freaks the dogs out- he won't let them around me. He comes waddling to me when I get home. He protects the cat from the dogs. I don't know what kind of duck he is but hes an Excellent pet everyone needs one!

This is Gypsy my 31-year-old Appaloosa mare. My parents bought her for me when I was 8--we've been together 23 years now. She's an absolute amazing animal with a lovely spirit. She's gentle with youngsters of all species and firm with those who break 'her rules.' This pic was taken about 2 months ago right after our minihorse Jack died. She was alone for the first time in her life. During the night she broke out of the paddock and made her way to our porch. The kids were thrilled and shared their breakfast of bagels and fruit with her. (We're quite a way from any roads and the rest of our property is fenced, so she wasn't in any danger.) She's back in her paddock where she's taken up with our dog. We see them together quite a bit during the day. We've named our place after her--Appaloosa Hill. I hold my breath every morning when I go out to feed her as I know our days together are dwindling. We're enjoying every minute with her and she never lacks for bagels.
