Have had the broodies take an extra break from their nests if they hear us running water on a particularly hot day. They don't hang around long "cooling their heels" - when their panting stops we know that the hens' systems have been refrigerated and they step right out of the hog bowl and waddle back into the shed and onto their nests (kinda like my female relatives, down South, in the days before air conditioning, who would ALWAYS retire for a cool bath in the early afternoon).turkeys love the water,when its raining they go out into my pasture looking for bugs coming from the grass,while its pouring down,on a sunny day,i have a punch bowl fill with water,they would stand in the bowl cooling off their feet,if i empty it out they would look at me with a mad expression,lol try to find that picture
