How far apart should I space
4 x4 x8 cedar posts on run? I plan on at least a 20 x 10 foot run. 2 feet buried below ground with 1/4 inch hardware cloth being used.

Hi there. :frow

For me 6 feet apart is usually good... 8 feet starts to get sloppy.

If you have the option... consider doing your run 15x15 instead of 10x20... you get 225 sq ft of space instead of 200 for the same amount of material. :pop

Also, the HC I have seen... 1/4 inch is a smaller gauge wire than 1/2 inch. I bought it once thinking it would be better... but I'm not so sure. Yes it has smaller holes but now the wire is also smaller to chew through.

Good luck! :fl

Thankyou..great idea about the sizing. Can't mice get through a one inch hardware cloth opening.

A lot of things could get through 1 inch. In my area even raccoon can reach in a decapitate birds anything larger than 1/2 inch. I meant half inch. :)

If using stringers like aart mentioned, I also would go at 8 feet and minimize any cutting. :highfive:

I was thinking without any other framing members.
