I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a hen can be really sad. If you ever show this to a vet and figure out what caused it - Im sure we'd all be interested in learning about it and how we can keep our hens from experiencing it.
I found this in a nesting box several days ago. Looks like 'lash' but also looks just like an ovary to me! The next day I noticed one of my white Americauna hens sickly and she had a mild prolapse so I treated that daily but she was dead this morning.
I know this isn't very uncommon, but it's still abnormal and I am very excited about it. My first double yolker from a Marans pullet that just started laying a few weeks ago! The comparison picture is an egg from a 2 year old Welsummer hen. My daughter got to eat it.
