Looks like we are about 2 hrs away from you, (we live east of richmond) Mapquest routed us to go to richmond and then go north from there... Wouldn't be able to make the drive until the weekend, will this work?

Not really interested in laying hens...DH doesn't wanna get into that...yet... he has OK'd my silkie addiction for now... the guineas and turkeys are more his birds... LOL

This is to "twopcnuts." The National is coming up in November in Columbus. It would be well worth waiting to find a breeder and if you really want "good stock" as you said, that is the place to get it, or at least make the connection to get them when they come available. I have been looking for Partridge, Columbian and Birchen Bantam Cochins and have been tempted a couple of times to go to a hatchery because they seem hard to find. I finally decided that to get what I want, and the quality that I want, I'm either going to wait for the show, or I'll get them from the breeders I've found on line that have stock that I like. I think chickens are like horses and all other animals, it costs just as much to feed and take care of bad ones as good ones, sometimes more. Sometimes the bad ones cost more because they have problems that you are constantly working to overcome. Some of the good breeders have worked years and years to get to where they are with there line and I think it's foolish not to benefit from their hard work.
I'm a person of immediate gratification so it's really hard to wait, but I know in the end it will be worth it.

Gender unimportant.
Three months or older if possible.
I don't want to pay for shipping, but I culd drive a ways. I could also wait until the show in Columbus. Thanks!

ETA: a mottled in lieu of millie fleur would be okay, too!
