Post Your Baby Indian Runner Duck Pictures here.

Most of mine are from a hatchery and the rest are the babies they hatched. I wish I could give you some of my eggs, but they`re not really laying right now... eBay has some runner hatching eggs for sale and I think most hatcheries usually have them. I got mine from Cackle Hatchery, but I think Metzer Farms and Meyer Hatchery have some too. Metzer probably has the best quality, but I've never gotten anything from them, so I cant say for sure.

I just got 2 beautiful black runners. I do believe that is what the guy at Tractor Supply said they were. I bought them March 1st. They were just a couple days old. They are my first ducklings to raise. I had an adult male Perkins my mother had gave me.

After looking at all these adorable pictures I can't wait to get my six little runner babies within the next month! :D

I've already shared these on another thread, but when there is a place just for Runner duckling pics....

Here are my babies!!

Of course they're down right huge now (just a week later) I think I will have to take a pic of them each week just to show how much they grow!!!!!!

Those little ones are so adorable!

I love their inquisitive eyes. My little black duckies are hopefully Indian Runners. I have had some doubt lately. Runners are so adorable and fun to watch. I will hopefully know if they are Cayugas or Indian Runners soon. They have already gone for their first swim.

That little chick looks like it wants to go for a swim too!! I hope it doesn't actually try... And from the looks of it, I would say that your all black ones are runners.

My husband and I were really drawn to the runner ducks at a recent poulty show. We were thinking about getting some, but have been told they are not good pets. We were told they are like ducks with ADD. They are terribly messy and eat all your plants. We use our home as a vacation rental home. Would any of you tell me what your experience with these ducks are....like the reality of having them other than they are adorable and fun to watch! Thanks!!!

I took my little runners out in the chicken yard for a little bit this morning. Sure enough they ran like runners standing as straight up as could be. I could only have them out for a few minutes. I noticed they were getting a bit nervous being such a little thing in such a big area. They did start corralling some of my adult hens.

the poor biddies didn't know what to make of that. I carried them back into their safe zone and they felt much better. Their little chick buddies were calling for them.
One of the chicks did actually try and swim. Their feet can touch the bottom. I scooped her out right away though. I only leave the swimming hole in there when I am there to supervise. I don't want the chickens or ducklings accidentally hurting themselves.

Hello,
I'm Ranger Rick and I have two runner ducks and two silkie chickens. We had to butcher four of the roosters since they were always trying to breed with the female runner ducks and then they started attacking us and scratching us to draw blood which makes them go WILD and become even more
aggressive. So we took the blue colored chickens and when baked the bones and skin turn BLACK when done.

Well, a marsh hawk took one of our runner ducks. Last night we were given a replacement runner duck and the pair have bonded well and ever morning they are floating in the pond together and follow each other all over. Ours is female since it lays an egg a day. But the other we are not sure of its sex.
It has very orange legs and its quacking sounds like it has laryngitis. It is true that females quack real loud and males are quiet? Our female does quack loudly.
Also, my daughter wants to know if we have a male will it get along well with other male ducks. This is because there is a possibility of obtaining three more ducks of which no one knows their sex and we do not want to start a fight amongst the good current conditions. The other people want to get rid of their three ducks because foxes have been eating them one by one. Fox season to trap won't start here in PA till October and that would be too late to
save the ducks. Help us with ANY knowledge or help or suggestions you might know. Thanks! (how to repel fox, etc.) Ranger Rick :-)
