Got these girls at one day old from Tractor Supply they are nine week old Black Austrolorps and Barr Rocks in this picture. We were moving them from the growing pen to the run. They are so sweet!!! The Austolorps are so friendly and want to be held, lol. Can't wait until the egg laying starts!!

My Americauna hen went broody last fall, but ended up with only one baby. She went broody again this Spring, sitting on a clutch of 8 eggs. We needed to increase our flock so we bought 10 little girls from out local feed store. Stella, our broody hen, abandoned her nest after 24 days with no babies to show. I introduced her to our 4 day old chicks 2 at a time every 20 minutes that night and she adopted every single one! She is the best mama hen ever! The following pics are a:the chicks at 3 days; b:2 days after adoption by Stella; c:at 9 weeks old this week. Barred rocks, buff orps, Rhode Island reds, and americaunas.

Well my FaceBook friends are getting tired of me posting baby peep pictures so I'd be happy to!

My Norwegian Jaerhon pair--the roo is the larger lighter one--They are my spolied tiny babies..

Smokey--my gorgeous grey Silkie girl***fingers crossed anyways..

This is Little Grey--she was sexed at hatch..they are the prettiest Silkies ever..Cant wait til they can join my other Silkie girls <3 She had a blast playing in the tall grass..

Who couldnt love a butt like that???

I also have 34 eggs in the bator due on the 9th--they are out of my Silkies, black banties and my neighbors Americaunas/EE's.. ANd then I have another 24 eggs that are due the 19-20th, 12 are layers and the other 12 are from a rare breed mixed pen with everything from chocolate Americaunas to NJs..

I cant forget to add the 8 little red pullets that my daughter got for her 4H project..they are the sweetest girls ever, I hate that she has to sell her 3 best :( I will be sad to see them go, they are the friendliest and most outgoing birds..I will have to get pics of them tomorrow to share...

Proud momma is a Mottled Cochin Bantam who hatched out her adopted Silkie eggs, a white and a black splash. This was her first time going broody and she is a great momma!
