post your chicken coop pictures here!

this is the new coup 10'x20' with vinyl flooring poop boards and buckets for nesting boxes timed lights automatic "pullet shut chicken door", french doors that I took from another job and one window that opens also from another job only 17 chickens currently but 50 more coming soon.
Very nice! I am jealous of the 4 extra ft on the length.(I tried for 10x20 and got 10x16,lol!)I really like the open plan too. My large coop is divided up into pens and brooder space while my smaller coop is open like this one. What types of birds are you raising in it?

According to my dog, hardware cloth is great for shredding too....and she's not a big dog either. I made her dog house out an old quail cage I had made from pallets and hardware cloth and added feed bags for insulation. ... She tore up the hardware cloth now it's just a big mass of twisted wires.

I built a few lean-tos out of discarded plywood and cinder blocks. An old truck bed liner added cover and a hawk hide but this new house will have full time access to a 8'x8' barn coop and covered run. A privacy fence and a patrol dog (who thinks she's a mamma hen) will keep ground predators out.

You have made amazing progress since you first started out!!!!

Yup... I had a dog who could messup chainlink. During an anxiety attack. Tore his mouth and nose up pretty bad.

None of it is perfect but choosing the best materials you can and fastening it in a manner to promote success is the best you can do.

meaning Hardwarecoth on the inside from where the predator is going to attack
Fastening with Screws and washers instead of nails
Giving the wire some tension during fastening stretching it tight will keep predators from being able to hook teeth in and tug.
using Heavier gauge wire.... The bigger the number of the gauge of the wire the finer the wire.

So 12 gauge is bigger than 14 is bigger than 16 is bigger than 18...

For instance my next fence is going to be 4 gauge wire... in the form of cattle panels
The cage wire will be 12 gauge

Our coop is a shed and the run has a concrete floor with shavings on top. And has a border of cinder blocks around the outside I also have a light in the run and my dogs area is near as well and she will bark at a mouse fart Lol. The only predator we had this year was an oak snake that thought the limbs in the run looked comfy and I caught and relocated it, and also our cats are always prowling about. , I agree heavier gauge wire is better. I meant to add that I forgot Lol....

Still pretty bare on inside. Mostly 5 gallon buckets, 1 double nesting box and some pine saplings for roost. Have gotten lots of ideas from site.

Still a labor of love. Little at a time.
That coop is nice and it's spacious. I envy people who have room for this kind of nice building and run. I was looking at your nice nestboxes too. If they were mine I'd put them on paver stones or cinder blocks to raise the round ones off the floor a bit.

Wow! That's a serious bite on your dog! We use hardware cloth to cover our coop windows only. The run and coop perimeter is all covered in 1x2 spaced welded fence here. Hubby tried to argue with me on that expense. Told him no chicken wire will be used or else. I then showed him posts from this forum to back it up.

We are raising Americanas , jersey Giants, barrel rock,
Silver spangled polish, welsumer, and black copper merans. Oh and one buff orp.

Great mix you have there! my 8x12 has EES standard and bantam, Speckled Sussex, Light Brahmas, and a LF Cochin all from Meyer. I need to replace a few in this coop, 2 and 3 yr. olds.10x16 has 3 LF Cochins from S&C for now. Hope this bunch hatches at least 14 chicks.I still have room for quail pens and hope to get 6 in a month or two.
