post your chicken coop pictures here!

I don't understand your questions below?
My husband designed it this way. We don't want it open in the front. That is where the nesting boxes are going! I will attach a new picture.

Modified Woods? Why not full open in the front per the original design?

Nice work.

Your coop looks to be designed exactly the same EXCEPT for the open front. Open air coop, with no way for the wind to blow through to the birds on the roosts in the back is EXCELLENT ventilation and a very healthy environment. Given your other pictures looked very similar except for that aspect, I ASSUMED it was based on the Woods coop

It looks something like a Woods. Has the shape of one, somewhat. But, it is NOT a Wood's coop, everything is different.

We just built this last weekend.... the shed is 4x8 with 2 perches and a sandbox under that. The outside run is about 6x14. We insulated the walls as we live in cold Wisconsin. We found a door at the second hand store for 20 dollars with a big insulated window in it. We got to put a frame on a few windows and put a second coat of paint on yet before we call it done. The walls and floor have white plastic panels so we can hose it clean every now and then. The total cost for everything was probably around 400 dollars.

Standard advice. Chicken wire keeps chickens where you want them, it won't keep out predators.

I am aware of that, we are doing hardware cloth around the bottom, and then the chicken wire up top. They will be locked in the coop at night too, which is set on sunken papers, which the coop is also bolted to with metal straps and the underneath of the coop also has hardware cloth on. All the latches on the coop are not the standard either, we have replaced them with more secure ones, and then latched with quick links, the screw kind, not the clip kind.

Since my girls no longer need light for warmth, I'm wondering about other night light in their roosting coop area. They are closed in the roosts at night. I've heard some mention red light. I purchased a 25watt red bulb. Will this be a good thing or will it mess them up later with laying? Here's a pic of my little set up. We are going to add a g bigger run VERY soon lol

I've never supplied my birds with any light at all. Nighttime, they are sleeping, they don't need any light. It's not like they are going to be getting up, and feeling their way to the bathroom. :)

I suppose I was concerned about nesting but I guess they lay in the morning?

Oh ok! Just wondering! I'm new to chickens and this site so bear with me.

We have had chickens in the past but hubby was in charge. This time it's my project and I want to know as much as I can.
