post your chicken coop pictures here!

Or put up cardboard....  I do tarps over chainlink... so rub points are everywhere.      I have also layed PVC across to make the tarp do a peak so the only place touching are the edges.  The peak makes water run off better... Not perfectly but better.

I do the tarps on welded wire dog kennels so there isn't any rubbing. And to keep the wind from taking the tarps I put string in an x to hold the tarp closer to the pen so the wind isn't able to pull the metal rings out of the tarps.

I know....my brain does not work the normal way haha, even that I am not getting birds until later on, I just wanted to get the coop crossed in my mental list, I am a list person, if its on my list it drives me crazy, so I knew I could cross that out, and I did...haha.

Don't feel like the lone stranger! I got a used coop on Memorial Day that I have been working on to clean and fix up before adding more chickens to the flock.

Got it cleaned out and painted. Still need to put 1/2 inch hardware cloth over the openings I cut into the gables and redo the roosts inside. Should have that done in the next day or 2 then it's onto building a 10' x 12' run.

I'm hoping to add 5 more to the 5 I already have living in another coop by late July early August.

What kind of chickeneer are you? You're giving the rest of us a bad name!  :lau   Don't you know you're supposed to get the chicks first, THEN start building the coop?!?! Then get side tracked so that they are full grown before you actually get the coop finished?  You NEED to have chickens running around inside your house, the significant other threatening divorce proceedings, and all your friends thinking you've finally gone over the edge! That's the best fun of chicken ownership dontchaknow. ;)

And add 15 more chickens than you planned!!!

That is very true. One hopes their EEs generally look like Ameraucana other than the specific colors but since they are not a breed and there are no standards one can only hope that the pictures on the hatchery sites are relatively accurate to what you will receive. I don't agree on the "inflated price" comment though. An EE pullet chick from Meyer costs about the same as a Black Australorp or RIR. Maybe there are some hatcheries that inflate the price. If so, they are likely the ones selling EEs under the name Ameraucana and claiming they are rare.

If you want good laying EE's, order some chicks from Sandhill Preservation Center. They monitor the egg productions of all their breeds. They also have pure Americanas too.

Well I finally got more work done on my chicken coop and run.

The metal shingles are alternating rows of Foster's cans and Wicked Red Cider tallboys. I cut the top off and split the can and then cut the bottom off with tin snips. Then I run the over the corner of the coop to flatten them.

. though I would probably use Tecate and shingled it with the printing on the outside... for more color.
