Or put up cardboard.... I do tarps over chainlink... so rub points are everywhere. I have also layed PVC across to make the tarp do a peak so the only place touching are the edges. The peak makes water run off better... Not perfectly but better.

I do the tarps on welded wire dog kennels so there isn't any rubbing. And to keep the wind from taking the tarps I put string in an x to hold the tarp closer to the pen so the wind isn't able to pull the metal rings out of the tarps.
Don't you know you're supposed to get the chicks first, THEN start building the coop?!?! Then get side tracked so that they are full grown before you actually get the coop finished? You NEED to have chickens running around inside your house, the significant other threatening divorce proceedings, and all your friends thinking you've finally gone over the edge! That's the best fun of chicken ownership dontchaknow.
