In the Brooder
This is our first year with chickens and wow it's been fun. Below are some pictures and even a linked video of our coop. The run section start at 6x6 then expanded to 6x9 when we put the coop together. The coop is 6x3 and about 4 feet tall I believe. The entry is from below for the chickens. We cannibalized the nesting box from a really small coop we purchased online (not big enough for our original 3 girls at all).
We've tried a few different roosts but this one seems to finally do the trick. Our original 3 girls never really had a roost but the 3 new girls have always roosted. I tried for a week straight to put them up on it at multiple times through the evening (we had a webcam in there to watch them) but they just didn't take to it. Finally they have. I wish we had a bigger coop for a litter catcher but oh well. We might just switch over to sand or that DVP(sp?) whatever it is next year.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions or comments! Thanks, Matt & Katie
