post your chicken coop pictures here!

Mine may not be as quaint or fancy as some, but I built it using mostly pallet remnants and privacy fence boards with my total cost being under $100. The attached site shows the step-by-step construction process.

Shown below is the recent 30' x 6' add-on run which was mandated after a year of my flock of 9 hens tearing up my St. Augustine lawn.

Because chickens love to forage and scratch and dust-bathe, we divided the backyard with a rabbit fence. The chickens have their side to dig up any way they want, and we have our "people" side with patios, furniture, veggie gardens, and container pots. We still get to enjoy the yard and watch chicken TV without them pooping on our side!

I did the same dividing up the yard using several dog X-pens! I will be planting clover "salad bars" for them in their part. They have small pine trees and a lot of wild berry and wild rose bushes as cover...in the winter I let them have the whole yard as nothing is growing and it is snow covered.

That's a good method. We don't have snow but open up the "people" side in winter also so the chickens can have fun digging in the dormant raised veggie beds. Of course, I have a lot of chicken poop to wash down on the patios but they get shelter from the rainy days so I don't mind. In summer, they have to stay on their side of the fence and use the pop-up canopy for a shaded dust bath bed.

NICE dust bath! Wow!

Well, it USED to be nice but chickens kick up an awful lot of dirt dusting themselves! And they get bored with the same spot. I have dust bowl holes all around their side of the yard! This pullet decided she liked my 4-inch container pot for a dust bath! Go figure?
