post your chicken coop pictures here!

Here's what I
Just finished inside an old dog kennel.

Looks nice, make sure you get some ventilation in the coop though. Ammonia build up from the chicken poop without proper ventilation will kill the birds. And if it gets below freezing in the winter, the humidity build up will cause frostbite and maybe respiratory problems.

You will want to put an angled roof over the nest box. What you have there is a big pile of chicken poop just waiting to happen. Given you have the coop on one side and a wall on the other, you can just make the top wider and hinge it up the wall maybe a foot. Might want to split the top in half or rig up some lifting hardware , that OSB gets heavy ;)

Absolutely Bruce! Those coops were very tempting because they came with everything done and I wouldn't have to lift a finger! I was very close to purchasing one of the Amish made coops. They are BEAUTIFUL! They come with all the extras. I opted for more room due to this chicken math problem I keep hearing about! I got the shed in the middle of March and still have a ton of work to do. But that was the give and take. Get bigger and customize myself, or get smaller and it's all done.

I am so jealous of all the room you have LOL! I miss our old 25 acres and even though I am retired in a city zone now I still think of my farm roots! Our backyard chickens still give us a little feel of the old Country Life. Have you ever watched "Green Acres" with Eva Gabor and Eddie Albert? That was how I started out farm life as a kid - open walls leading directly outside, no electricity, a WWII barracks later converted to our farmhouse, an old Stagecoach, Buckboard, Horsedrawn Plow, Steamer Trunk, and Tack Room items from the late 1800's left in the barn (the property used to be an old Stagecoach Stop) really interesting stuff I never appreciated when I was a kid!

Thanks, Sylvester!

Living in a small town definitely has it's advantages. Even though we live in city limits, we have 1.5 acres and our backyard ends at the corn field. We moved to this area 6 months ago and were very lucky to find this property.
