we harvest young coconuts to eat and drink the juice and amazing coconut pies, with older coconuts we make coconut milk for curries and pina coladas, we also collect and dry the meat to sell as copra for oil. we buy back the copra expeller meal for pig and chicken feed.

the trunks are used for lumber

the whole branches for thatch.

the stripped main branches become firewood

the stripped leave spines become brooms.

the leaves can make woven baskets.

the heart is pulped into an amazing garlic filled fresh lumpia roll.

hoping the tongue-in-cheekiness is coming thru...except I will google search the lumpia roll.

No Merkan oaks. We have to settle for Mahogany, teak, jimalina, nara and other tropical hardwoods

We actually have a tree that the locals call a pine but has an acorn and in Australia its called a swampy oak.

the lumber from this is so dense that its impossible to nail. my workers refuse to use it

it also burns when green.

i have used it to make some benches after a tree was struck be lightning.

Here is a photo of the chicken tractor I designed with a mini-coop, laying boxes and a run. I designed it with wheels, but did not install them since it stays in place in our back yard. We let our 6 hens free range in the yard unless we are out of town. Then we close them up inside the run. It ha proven to be a solid design for small flocks. I'll try to post more photos from the back (access door) side and inside.

I really like that design! I would love to have something like that, but I already have two coops ;)
