post your chicken coop pictures here!

Hey @A2Kzoo2 !
welcome-byc.gif
and welcome to the thread.

Those "mobile coops" you referred to are called "chicken tractors" and if you go back through this thread (and others), or search that term, you can learn all about them and see them. Many people use them for a variety of reasons, and they are like houses... they can resemble a shanty

or a mansion

but as always, it's a matter of function vs appearance! the chickens don't seem to care one way or the other

. Enjoy the site, there's a wealth of info here!

They are inside a fence. I am not quite that stupid, we have TONS of predators. None have tried to get inside at night, but I have lost lots from dogs, fishers, fox, and people in the day time.

No body implied you were stupid, just stating a fact that hoop buildings are generally not as secure as a traditional wood built coop and don't offer the 2nd line of defense, this is important to many people others are not as concerned with it...

I am saying I do care, and if I care I will try to protect them. I meant I would not think a typical hoop house is secure. If it was covered in strong, small holed wire, with a sturdy frame and a skirt, maybe...

Looks like it's gonna turn out pretty nice when it's finished :)

Had a pretty crazy few months recently, this coop, after serving well for almost three years, burnt down! At night WITH my babies inside! Only lost one to the fire, and I consider myself fortunate for that, my babies and myself had burned throat tissue and lungs, smoke inhalation... but we have a new coop, half the size but much more secure, now their run has much more room, they only sleep in the coop so the small size doesn't bother them, still been pretty crazy though.

What? How did it burn down?

I love how this thread took off! Been awhile since i'd looked xD

Thanks for starting it! As you can see it has been a huge success! It has helped literally thousands (I'm sure) in designing their coops and not making mistakes others pointed out and incorporating things they would have otherwise never thought about or considered.

Sorry that you and your birds were injured. I hope you've recovered. You really need to post some pics of their new digs.
