Predator proof & great for show chickens.

I used to enjoy ranging them but im not going to all this trouble to feed hawks and stray dogs. When i was younger i kept the stray animal problem strictly under control but developed a conscience and no longer own any guns. If i choose to range them again i will buy a franchi 20 ga magnum and stand guard. It is legal to kill any animal that threatens or attacks people or animals on your property. I have no love for predators wild or otherwise.

......my new run should be sufficient.
Here are some pics of the new run in progress:

And here is a better pic of the black hen I believe is laying the green eggs:

And the reason I have to get the run finished ASAP!

At first i thought she was a jersey giant and then australorp but they both lay brown eggs so im stumped too :-) She comes from an egg farm, culled due to rooster damage. When i got her she couldent even get on a roost, she slept on the floor. She looks good now eh? Even her comb was damaged.

My chickens come from the ranch I worked at before I retired in March of '15, got them late last Oct. The "Poultry Lady" (we had chickens, ducks, turkeys and even a couple of emo's) wanted to breed a chicken that could with stand the -30*F we some times have here in the rocky mountains of Colorado as well as lay a purple egg. I know, you think I'm BSing you, but honestly this was and still is her goal. Hence my mixed breed chickens. She gave me my 5 chickens, I'm sure I could get more, with the stipulation if any of them laid a purple egg I had to give it back for breeding.

The wind has really picked up well over 50 miles an hour so my chicken coop will be lucky to be standing by morning so if it picks up any more no matter what my dad says I am putting them in the garage

Hi there! Have this baby being delivered in a few days for my new flock. It is 8x8. Still need to make a base to set her off the ground and a run, but I am excited! Fisrt time chicken owner. The only thing I am not sure I like is the fact that there are no poop pans under the roosts. Not sure I can pull that off. Any thoughts?
