. Living in OK, I'm a bit surprised you placed the wood directly on the ground... Don't you folks get a bit of rain there? Are you concerned about rot? I know it saves money on building a floor... Also makes it better easier to do deep litter, long as you left yourself an easy way to dig it out every couple years.

We do get a lot of rain. What I did was set (10) 30 inch solid oak 4x4 post drilled thru base board and then put 8" lag screws in the oak post. If I ever need to move it or do repaired I can without a lot of trouble. I used all 3" drywall screws for the walls and 11/4 for the plywood. I did think about pouring a stem wall but decided against it. Thanks

FINISHED!





We refurbished our 27 year old shed, painted it with the help of our beautiful little granddaughter (she was about 2, she's almost 5 now)

My husband, the builder, make me a GIGANTIC play yard for the girls with really high roosts that they love! (I thought the play yard would be the height of the bottom pitch of the roof haha! Nope he is an overachiever haha

)


Here he is teaching my son-in-law and boys how to build!


After painting the shed red and white I painted the play yard and added a little fence (that I made myself) just for looks. We added lay boxes for outside access, we poured a fancy sidewalk all around the barn/shed (we got the sidewalk for FREE yay!..good friends and a husband with building connections) Those friends also helped me pour 13" deep FOOTING's haha for the play yard so that no animals could dig under (we have fox, raccoon, skunk, hawks, dogs, etc and beautiful deer that visit us on our property) I got a killer deal on the products I bought, including the wire mess - got it at the fence store that had extra and sold it to me for 50 dollars!! (At IFA it would have cost well over $500 for the thick gauge and amount that I purchased for our "very VERY LARGE" play yard!

Paint was about my biggest expense (The barn was old and really soaked up the paint - I figure I spent about $220 on paint alone!) But it was SO worth it!! I have such happy chickens and a very very large setup for the price of one of those little pre-made ones that will only hold 2-4 birds!) I would do it all again and I LOVE the size of my play yard and the birds love it even more!!

I got some more done today but I discovered a mistake that I plan to fix I left out a couple 2x6 top plates that are making the monitor short which I don't like where the bottom rafters hit so next time I work on it I will be jacking up the monitor I set on the other day and adding in those top plates to get me back on track I could leave it but it makes other work and having to add a spacer on top of the exposed beams. I am going to fix it now so I am not sorry later. I took a couple pictures of the progress but some of the work will be undone to fix the mistake luckily all the parts will fit right back after I raise it 1 1/2".

I took a picture of the dummy beams in the back when all the siding is on it will look like it is all timber framed. I did not have any 4x6 beams long enough to span the 18' and they are very expensive so that is why it is done this way.
