post your chicken coop pictures here!

if you have t h e 4 inch side for sitting, do you find they poop on them more?

I also use the 4" side for sitting and no it doesn't collect any poo, this is picture when it was new obviously but even after nearly 2 years it has no real poop build up on the perches and I have never cleaned them...

I love the size of it. You could easily make different areas for different ages of chickens for example A broody hen and her chicks. Do you have any pictures of the inside? Because sometimes how the nest boxes and roosts are set up can make all the difference.
I also wouldn't bother with insulation. For the summer is it going to be located where some trees will offer shade? If it is just going to be sitting out in the middle of nowhere with no trees for shade or a windbreak etc. you may consider insulating. But I wouldn't bother with any artificial heat or cooling. Just increase the ventilation. As long as the birds do not have a breeze blowing on them in the winter you were fine. Just make sure the vents are about 18 inches above their heads. In the summer keep everything nice and open. They will appreciate the breeze in summer. Many breeds of chickens have a much higher chance of dying in the heat then in the cold.
Chickens do not eat or drink at night so you don't have to worry about keeping the water thought out during the night.

It is being built with April delivery. We are installing the boxes, roosts etc so we have time to choose which way to go. It is actually built and sold as a Cabin for people, lol, so the unfinished inside looks like this. The outside is T11

I have both 2x4 on the flat and 3" round fence rails. The 2x4s do get a bit more poop on them than the fence rails (which are usually very clean) but the most likely area is where a 2x4 on edge intermediate (support to the wall) meets the ones on the flat. The girls seem to like to park on the junction so there is more likelihood their butt is over a 2x than over air.
