post your favorite about your sillkies

Miss Cuckoo is my favorite. She's a glamour girl. I love her color.

When my husband said he wanted to move out of town and buy a house, I thought what fun it would be for my kids to have some chickens! I looked online and ordered a chick catalog with pictures of different breeds for my kids to look at. I was just sure we would end up with polish chickens as I told my kids about my many adventures with "Doodlebird". She was my favorite polish chicken when I was a child, I would carry her all over around our yard and look for treats under rocks and old pieces of firewood.
My daughter fell in love with the idea of showing chickens for 4H. When she saw pictures of the huge poofy white silkies online and in magazines, begged me for that breed. My son thought they were "afro crazy" and "cool as can be". So now we are the proud owners of 13 blue and 13 white silkie chicks.
The kids couldn't be happier and I can't wait for some fresh eggs!

Here's a couple photos of my Gorgeous Silkie, Chirpie.

Chirpie loved to get his head scratched and he loved for me to groom his feathers for him. He would sit in my lap and coo and sleep for as long as I would let him.

Chirpie thought he was a MUM to my new baby frizzles when I got them.

By 6 mos Chirpie started crowing every morning, and off and on through-out the day, so Chirpie had to go.

It still makes me sad.

I bought Chirpie at aged 3 weeks, for $35, and he was supposed to be a HEN. A big price tag, but I thought I was going to get a pet for many years.

This was the best chicken pet I ever had.

That is the cutest thing i have seen!!! what king of sillkie is it?
Quote:

Her color is cuckoo, not barred. It looks kind of grayish because the feathers are fuzzy, but on her wings and certain patches of her body, you can see the barring better.
