I am sooo jealous. My BR's are 21 weeks today and have been acting like they were going to lay for at least 2 weeks but still no egg. Am so happy for you...really I am.

They will lay, O of Elvis, they will!!! I just knew mine wouldn't, but the last couple of days the golf ball has been scooted around so I knew the nest box was being "investigated." I'm so proud of her for putting it in the box. I feel like a new parent. I have to post another picture of my little Avatar holding the same egg. Now I wonder what tomorrow will bring???

This was are first egg. We figured they usauly lay on the floor for there first few eggs because they don't know what happend. They sometimes they have only yolk or only white. We got one first egg that was only half of an inch long.

Our birds are just 20 weeks old and on Friday we got our first egg and yesterday we got our second egg. We have 3 light brahmas, 8 black astralorps and 7 buff orpingtons. No clue which one it was but we're very excited and can't wait for the rest to start laying.

God is sooooo amazingly good. I was having one of the worst days ever yesterday despite getting to spend it with my daughter and grand baby. I'm preparing for my oldest son to leave for Afghanistan next week and some days just aren't as good as others....anyway....I come home and check the nesting boxes and there it was. The prettiest egg anyone has ever seen that brought tears to my eyes! Despite being quite small and cracked. It will be blown out and saved today. Thank you Margaret...or Nora...but I'm pretty sure it was Margaret she was the only one in the house, which is very unusual, when I found it. She was showing off and saying "It's mine Mama and don't give my sister Nora credit for what I did!"

Here's my first egg.. Found it on the floor near the waterer. Looks like it's time to make those nest boxes..

How can you figure out who laid it?

This is not my hen's first egg, but it was my first egg after we got her. (We got her when she was about a year old!)
