I installed the nest box last weekend. I had a hen acting weird so I checked the egg box - nothing. I went to get some straw today to put in the box. When I opened the nest box to put the straw in, there was our first egg. How cool that she actually laid it where she was supposed to!

Sophie laid a green egg this morning !!!!!!
She sang a great egg song after, so I went & checked the nest & there it was. I am so happy; I never believed I would truly have a green egg. Here are the 3 I collected this morning: Brown is SLW Trixies (laying since July 26), Cream is from ???, & the green is from my 2nd ugliest hen, SOPHIE -

OK, I take it all back. I used to see Sophie as a mousy sort of hen

But now, she is indeed beautiful to me.
