Lala, our EE, was first out of the chute, so to speak.
Went right to the nest box, too! Over Izzy, our Barred Rock, followed with some dive-bombs from the roost, but she's since learned from Lala and started using the nest. Yay!
Ok this is not the first egg but it is the first egg for 4 of my chickens. I posted the first egg a couple of days ago but I am so excited because today I got a Maran egg! She was in the nest when I went in to feed this morning and she was rearranging the chips but I didn't think she was going to lay because her comb and waddles are not bright red yet. some of the others are much brighter than hers. I figured she was just practicing. LOL But she fooled me because when I went out this afternoon to check the water there was her egg along with another egg. The other egg is a lot like one of the eggs I got yesterday and the day before.
The eggs on the left are the ones I got today and the ones on the lRight the ones from yesterday. So my girls are finally getting with the program. They are 19 weeks old this week.
This is the first egg again with my SIL older hen egg to show the difference.
Here are the next ones. The ones on the right are sweating because I took them out of the frig. I wonder who layed the bigger one. It is still small like a bantie egg.
Okay, so I expect the first egg to be small... but I went out to the chicken coop and found the smallest egg ever! I only have chickens and the cage is fenced in on top as well so I know that another bird could not have laid this egg... What is up with this?
The egg on the right is a store bought egg and the brown one in the middle is the average size we have been getting from 2 of our chickens and the pinkish one is a first egg from, I think our silver spangled... Now the farthest one on the left, well one of the hens must be laying her first egg, but has anyone every had an egg this small?
