Another First Egg!!!!!!!!
One of my Tetra Tints has started laying!!

Her egg is the cream/slightly pink egglet in the middle
The egg right beside it on left is store bought white egg for color comparison. The two brown eggs on the right are GC egglets ( I have 2 GC's laying now!) And the one farthest left is the PR egg for size/color comparison.
Funny thing........about the time I got done coop cleaning today, two GC's were huddled up in the run, one trying to get under the other. They walked off, and LO AND BEHOLD!! There was an egg laid right there! No fuss, no noise at all! I wonder which one was the culprit!!

We got our first egg today!! At first I thought it might just be a fart but it had a yolk!! My sons couldn't wait to eat it!

This is from Ms. Hermann, our White Leghorn. I happened to go out to the coop to take the chickens (17 hens, 3 roosters) a bit of watermelon and Ms. Hermann was panting up a storm and looking very flush in one of the laying boxes. I figured either she would die or lay an egg, fortunately she laid an egg and has laid five in the last six days. Go, Ms. Hermann, Go!

Since then we have also obtained one soft-shelled, brown egg that looked ridiculous from an unknown layer and one perfect brown egg from Snickers, one of our Black Sex-Links.

When my husband brought our first egg into the house ever-so-carefully, I was so very excited. He later called his parents to inform then that I was more excited about this egg than he had ever seen me, including the day we got married. I suspect the excitement won't wear off soon as I've been nearly equally thrilled about all 8 of the eggs I have collected to this point.
